Taralli were born in the south of Italy as early as the fifteenth century. The name derives from the Latin term "torrère" meaning "toast", referring to the crunchy and slightly brown aspect. Our taralli are in oil and the recipe we use is the oldest, the Apulian one, with double cooking first in steam and then in the oven. Hand-worked, one by one, they retain the typical ring shape, the matte and smooth surface with a crumbly but crunchy dough inside that releases an immediate scent of oil.
